Interesting site with lots of info on the Morris Canal and it's unique history! Lots of fine, dedicated folks who put on a terrific Festival each year on the grounds of the Historic Waterloo Village, in Stanhope, NJ. Please, visit them! If you've never heard a conch shell being 'sounded' (canal boat Captains were required to sound a horn before they approached the lock) Bob Hofmann has a video clip of me sounding the shell at last year's festival! Click on the above "Canal Society of New Jersey" link to see it.
